Claude is currently unavailable on our consumer-facing platforms, including claude.ai and our apps. However, the Claude API that powers businesses remains unaffected. Our team is diligently working to restore full service, and we will provide updates as soon as they are available. We sincerely appreciate everyone’s patience as we navigate this unprecedented demand for Claude, which has been overwhelming over the past week.
The outage occurred hours after Claude surpassed OpenAI’s ChatGPT in Apple’s App Store, securing the top spot as the most-downloaded free app in the United States. Notably, ChatGPT holds the second position, while Google’s Gemini ranks fourth. Furthermore, the number of free Claude users has experienced a significant surge, exceeding 60 percent since January.
